UPGRADING THE BILL VALIDATOR
American
Games has learned that recent changes in the $10.00 bill
may cause inconsistent readings by the bill validator in
pull-tab vending machines. This issue should be addressed
as soon as possible by completing a software upgrade. The
upgrade is available by placing a service call.
Please
contact us at 1-800-377-7554 Monday thru Friday from 8 am
to 4 pm to schedule your service call.
To perform
a short-term fix that will disable the acceptance of all
$20 and new $10 dollar bills follow the instructions below.
Step
1
Power down the machine.
Step
2
Unlock the machine.
Step
3
Open the slide door to access to the bill validator.
Step
4
Remove the bill box.
Step
5
On the back of the bill validator, on the under side of
the housing, you will find a tab to release the bill reader
cassette. The tab is located next to two cables exiting
the lower housing. The tab will need to be depressed while
pulling the cassette towards the back of the machine. Once
completed, remove the cassette.
Step
6
Turn over the cassette to expose the bottom side to make
the circuit board visible. Near where the two cables exit
you will find a connector header and a single row of DIP
switches.
Step
7
Using a paper clip, set switch number "4" to the
"OFF" position.
Please note that the "OFF" switch will be located
towards the number "4" label.
Step
8
Reinsert the cassette in the bill validator until it is
fully engaged. Once engaged, you will hear a click.
Step
9
Replace the bill box.
Step
10
Secure the machine and test it to ensure that it will not
accept a $20 bill.
Repeat
the procedure if required to ensure that the machine will
not accept a $20 dollar bill.
The short-term fix is now complete. Please contact American
Games at 1-800-377-7554 Monday-Friday from 8 am to 4 pm
to arrange for a permanent upgrade that will enable the
pull-tab vending machine to receive all new and old $10
bills and all $20 bills in circulation.
